I'm doing something scary/nerve wracking today. I had the worst sleep and every dream was about the thing. I know I CAN do it, I just want someone else to do it for me (muuuuummmmm!!!) and I realised so often when we tell ourselves "I can't" we're really just saying "I don't want to" whether it's doing an extra set at the gym when you're tired, or walking up a steep hill, or finishing an assignment, having a hard conversation or choosing a hot bath instead of ice cream when we know we're full already!! We psych ourselves out by saying "I can't" because if you can't, well then you can't and so you don't. But if we just swapped that to "I don't want to" we'd then actually have a choice to do it EVEN though we don't want to and it's uncomfortable and we're tired/sick/over it. Hmm!! Off to do the thing now that I don't want to but know I can do, wish me luck!! (I'll tell ya'll about it later)

Does anyone else do this: start a different book for a different mood? I have started all of these and depending how I feel I will read a different one a day. Sometimes I feel like fiction, sometimes non-fiction, sometimes spiritual, sometimes psychological, sometimes literature, sometimes murder mystery.. reading novels is one of my favourite hobbies, alongside writing, photography, bush walking, playing piano and practicing yoga. If I could be anything in the world it would be a novelist!!! I totally forgot my love of reading & writing when I was in the "fitness/weight loss/"health" obsession phase, thank goodness that's over!

You know what I love about this cover? 1. It's Amy Schumer who is a. Hilarious and b. Not conforming to society's body expectations 2. The beauty issue and it's Amy Schumer 3. Do you hate gyms? Then don't go! Yep seriously! Get rid of that membership and forget it. Instead, find something you LOVE doing! While I do love the gym, when I quit dieting I hated the idea of being surrounded by all those mirrors when I was still in such a critical headspace, so I started working out at home. Yes it helps that I'm a PT but there are a lot of videos and at-home programs you can do that are still really good! If not that, then start running, or go for bushwalk, or try kayaking, or a boxing class.. just do whatever you like! Exercise is SOOO good for us ESPECIALLY our mental health, so don't let something like a hatred of gyms stop you from getting some movement in!!

This is why I suggest those who start "un-dieting" give up the mirror. We are OBSESSED with our bodies, we catch our reflection in every window and mirror and spend time looking from every angle. What you focus on gets larger, so of course you think you're bigger than you are and your "problem areas" appear bigger Han they are (or even appear as problems when they aren't). I challenge you to give up the mirror for a week: use it only for hair and makeup and avoid full length mirrors completely. If you have to use a full length to check your clothes match, give yourself 3 SECONDS then walk away. Giving up the mirror m, in my opinion, was the single biggest change in helping me to love my body: the focus shifted from what it looked like to what it could DO and you can't help but love it when you realise all the fab things it allows you to do!! ❤❤ pic cred: @beating_binge_eating

My FAVOURITE pants (and dog, or one of them 😝)!! Guys, if skinny jeans make you uncomfortable, then don't wear them!! Certainly don't avoid your favourite foods and go hungry so you can fit into them. Learning to dress to YOUR body shape is one way to start feeling more comfortable in your body. Standard fashion assumes everyone is in the same size range and that all bodies are equally symmetrical but we know that's just not the truth!! Ignore the size on the label, and dress to whatever makes YOU feel comfortable. And remember to experiment, just because you don't look as fab as your bestie in something doesn't mean you can't look equally fab in something else!! 💃💃

Just another reason to ditch the scales.. it's just a number, and tomorrow each of those girls could weigh something else because of salt, water retention, hormones, what they've eaten, whether they've exercised etc.... what are you really weighing? You just don't know!! You also don't know what you'll look like at a particular weight (even if you've weighed it before), and just because you reach your goal weight you're not guaranteed happiness, in fact, if you had to constantly ignore hunger, say no to food you love, slave away in the gym when you're exhausted and miss social functions because they're too hard to diet at, then you'll probably be unhappier than you were at your original weight... ditch the scales for 4 weeks and see how you feel!! It's hard at first but so worth it!

I used to spend so much time on Myfitnesspal I basically could have finished my degree in half the time if I spent the time studying that I did tracking 😵contrary to what some iifym insta accounts will have you believe: 1. Tracking calories or macros will not and cannot give you control or Freedom. "But I can eat donuts when I do " .. yes, but it's conditional, you can only eat the donuts if you haven't already eaten too much fat or carbohydrate, or if you only plan on eating particular foods later. If you need to fix your relationship with food you need to let go of control, not give yourself some weird pseudo rule that makes you think you are free but really just puts you in a different shaped cage. 2. If you stop tracking/counting you won't gain weight. You might actually lose weight. If you don't need to gain or lose weight you'll probably just maintain. 3. You don't need to track to make sure you are eating "enough" your body will tell you what's enough. If your hunger/satiety signals are that broken that you're genuinely satisfied but your head hair is falling out, you're always cold, and you're underweight then you need to see a dietitian and maybe a psychologist you absolutely do not need to track calories. 4. If you have a history of disordered eating or an eating disorder you will not "find Freedom" through tracking. Eating disorders are mental illnesses and need to be dealt with through psychological and psychiatric means, with a nutrition team if necessary - you can't "fix yourself" with counting calories (you'll simply replace one form of restriction with another). 5. If you need to lose weight for health reasons you DEFINATELY CAN AND WILL lose weight through intuitive eating (but we try not to focus on it because it tends to lead to self-sabotage)**imagine losing weight without paying attention to it!!!** Life is just too short, too wonderful, sometimes heartbreaking but overall magical, to worry about how many grams or calories of something is in a food 🌟🌟🌟🌟

@malala_yousafzai is definately a woman I look up to. Not only did she recover from being shot in the face but she used an act of atrocity to do something good and didn't let it stop her fighting for what she believed in. If you haven't read the book I am Malala do it, it's great! It makes me think a lot about what and who we idolise.. here's a woman fighting for education for all girls through the @malalafund & here we are in the west fighting for a small waist and cellulite free legs 😰 I'm more and more of the belief we don't even need to be body positive, we just need to stop the obsession with our bodies totally and completely! Don't get me wrong the bopo movement is incredible, but I think we really need to step away from the mirror and just step into our lives. Thoughts? ps @the_free_lilly did this artwork: incredible!
