Elise’s Review Food7 Drink7.5 ChildFriendliness8.5 Service10 I really liked the presentation of the food but I found that my curry really let my meal down. They were so friendly and helpful one of the chefs took the time to talk to us LIKE WHAT!!(I know that sounds sarcastic but it’s really not?!!) The reason why my curry let me down was because they forgot to cook the onions enough so the curry just tasted like raw onion MY INDIAN GRANDMA WOULD NOT BE IMPRESSED The samphire and squid pakora was packed full of flavour and was presented perfectly, although I only got 2 pieces of squid. Dad’s Review This was the second time we’ve left our booking late and had to go to an empty city restaurant on the weekend. Whats worse though? Empty restaurant or restaurant full of suits? At Temper you get to sit around a fire pit of activity, large joints of meat sit on wire racks above smouldering charcoal, slowly soaking up delicious warm smokiness. A butcher, not more than 3 foot from our seat at the bar, deboned a leg of lamb with a razor sharp knife. I think he enjoyed showing us his deft knife skills, i loved it but Elise found it a touch too gory. This particular City branch of Temper specialises in Indian food, confidently fusing British ingredients into Indian recipes. The squid and samphire pakora was an absolute triumph! You should probably opt for the Thali plate, a selection of pickles, a main curry of your choice and a delicious buttery roti. Temper is definitely has the wow factor in terms of appearance and the food is so nearly spot on. I only say nearly because Im yet to find a non traditional Indian that nails it perfectly. We’ll definitely be visiting the Soho branch where they do more south American inspired dishes using their lovely smoked meats. foodreviews yumminess bloggerstyle bloglife restaurantreview delicious dadanddaughter dadeliseandfood yummy foodbloggers

Elise’s Review Food8.5 Drink8.5 ChilFriendliness8 Service7 It was a very cold evening and the restaurant was empty but the bar next door was packed and you could just hear them raving or whatever they do when there out(lol). I fell in love with the whipped butter that came with the warm bread but there was one down side THEY FORGOT TO SALT IT WHY!!! I HAD DO IT MYSELF URRRRRG?? I loved my strawberry milkshake or mocktail or whatever you want to call the STRAWBERRY 🍓 MILKY DRINK. It was so creamy and sweet and tangy all at the same time, but wasn’t over powering which is good. My fish and chunky chips was crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle like it should be! Thanks for reading, I’m off to watch I’m a celebrity, get me out of here! Dads Review Food7.5 Service7 Price££££ We left this Friday night a bit late to get into where we really wanted to eat... but, a quick google search threw up a list of places in the Canary Wharf and the city, both of which are victim to the weekend dead-out. A couple of hrs later and a five minute walk from the station, through quiet streets lit by sparkling lights, gave us our first taste of Christmas. We arrived at a restaurant filled with nothing but twiddling thumbs and empty chairs. Determined to have a good experience we quickly settled our table of 4 with drinks and menus in hand. Elise made no mistake in ordering the meat and fish sharing platter for our group, something I’d normally consider a copout but, we all devoured it by scooping up duck rillete and chicken liver parfait with chunks of good quality toasted brioche. Two of us ordered steak which seemed the obvious choice and accompanied by truffled mac and cheese, buttered cabbage, onion tart tatin and peppercorn sauce we were smiling all the way to the bank. Elise’s fish and chips was pretty decent but nothing to write home about which in rather brutal ending summarises the whole experience. Chucking expensive ingredients at a restaurant definitely helps but it doesn’t replace the attentive touch of the chef patron. yumminess tomatkin tomskitchen reataurantreview foodbloggers foodreviews dadanddaughter bloglife @tomskitchendeli

REVIEW TIME Excuse the sombre tones of this photo STUFFED 😴😂👊🏼 Elise’s Review Food8 Drink8 ChildFriendliness9 The food was balanced very well in terms of flavour and the pork ribs just fell off the bone🍖 I loved the bean burger although it was bit salty for me, the sweet potato fries were super crispy too. I loved the fresh coconut 🌴 as always but my favourite thing was the roti and gravy for dipping, it was delicious 😋 Dad’s Review Food7 Service7 Price££ Wont lie, I used to live down the road from Negril for years and it was my special little place to come alone with a paper and chill. They used to do a all the English breakfast stuff too but I don’t miss it because the Caribbean food is so damn tasty. The vibes of the cafe are definitely still weekend papers and fresh juices for nursing hangovers. Spicy jerk wings and ribs on sharing platters and the most delicious jerk gravy with corn roti for dipping. The starters are enough to fix any sore head but I cant resist a quarter jerk chicken, rice and peas, coleslaw and more of that thick flavourful jerk sauce for pouring all over the plate. Elise went for a bean burger stacked with avocado, lettuce and some crispy sweet potato fries which, yep you guessed it, were also dipped in that little ramekin of love! Get yourself up Brixton hill next time your down south. REVIEW TIME! ise’s review Food7 Service8 childfriendliness6 The veggie Scotch egg was a bit drie but apart from that the the flavours were amazing and the egg was cooked to perfection so I would happily eat it again The calamari was very flavoursome but it was a tad too salty for my liking. Ive got to say though, I was disappointed when I came here with my mum for pancakes but this time was really nice! Dad’s Review Food6.5 Service7.5 Price££ Someone suggested we try this foody boozer in Herne Hill and given that we hadn’t done a review in south for a while we thought we should. Its a friendly little place that probably does best with the afterwork crowd, it definitely feels more ‘drinky’ than ‘foody’ and there wasn’t anyone else sitting down to eat when we did so for an early lunch. Without a recommendation the menu would have probably scared me off as it seems to attempt to cover every base, with vegan scotch eggs, Asian squid, burgers and modern European classics. We were pleasantly surprised though, the young smiley staff were eager to big up dishes on the menu and made us feel comfortable from the off. The food arrived quickly and our pan-global ordering satisfied us perfectly. My cod with pea puree was cooked beautifully (shame it was such a small piece), the squid was deliciously moreish and Elise’s chicken burger was above average thanks to the home cut fries. Our advice would be less is more, reign in the vast range of items and stick to what you do best, because you do it well. dadanddaughter restaurantreviews foodbloggers southlondon milkwoodbarandkitchen foodbloggers bloggers dadeliseandfood

Elise's Review Food6.5 Service7 ChildFriendliness8 I have been wanting to try snails 🐌 for a ages but I was quite disappointed by how underseasened they were but the creamy soup was very delicious. When I ordered my coconut 🌴and mint panacotta I was intrigued and scared because I don't normally like mint and coconut together and it was my first panacotta in my life. Dad's Review Food7.5 Service9 Price£££ I really like Wapping, where Victualler sits on a quiet cobbled street, and as one of my friend recounts it used to be a pretty tasty area. Tasty like Ronnie and Reggie, not like the home baked sourdough and biodynamic wines that Victualler offers its locals. As we walked the short journey from Wapping overground that contrast was highlighted by a proper English boozer with enthusiastic karaoke and cackling laughter spilling out onto the street, only a couple of doors down from the trendy wine bar/restaurant we were headed to. I immediately liked the place, an incredibly attentive Geordie talked us through the menu and spoke passionately and articulately about the natural wines on the shelves behind us. The food is secondary for these guys, I think, but the menu is cleverly written, simple cross-European classics are amongst the small list of dishes and a large blackboard displays specials and the chefs recommendations on the wall opposite us. The bar and finishing kitchen are all in the one island at the center of the venue, something which reminds of Japanese izakayas, chefs and bar staff working side by side and allowing the diner to see back stage, a reassuring set up that I'm a big fan of. Scene set. The cured meats and cheeses match the wines in their quality and the presentation of the few dishes we shared were surprisingly good too, just a shame that the flavours were a touch lacking, mainly down to the chefs not seasoning! Maybe the head chef wasn't working but only a few small things let these guys down and I'd still recommend it anytime. dadeliseandfood victuallerwinebar bloglife reviewers review restaurantreviews winebar wapping eastlondon dadanddaughter

Elise's Review Food8 Service7 ChildFriendliness9 This was a very traditional experience. The food was very simple but delicious. I very much loved the freshness of the fish and the atmosphere was lovely but I did find that the lower dining level was a bit dull. My favourite part of the meal was the salmon sushi 🍣 no surprise! Dad's Review Food7.5 Service8 Price££ We were in Soho for the afternoon and actually stumbled across this place on our way somewhere else. Elise of course gave me no choice in eating sushi for dinner and because I'd stayed in Shibuya when visiting Tokyo a few years ago I felt a funny desire to give it a go. The restaurant is a definite piece of East Asia, all the way from the street to the table you feel like you can trust these guys. Shibuya is actually known as much for their Bingsu as they are for their sushi. Bingsu is a Korean dessert made from a giant mount flaked frozen milk with other delights sprinkled on top. Kinda like a big bowl of slushy, often shared between friends. My bowl of Unagi and rice was good value and more than filled the gap. How Elise ate her giant sushi platter all to herself I'm still not sure about. I want to say we'll be back but Soho is bursting at the seams with places we want to try so it might be a while! @shibuyasoho dadanddaughter soho soholondon review dadeliseandfood bloggers bloglife

Elise's Review Food9 Drink8 ChildFreindliness7 After having a great day at the V&A we went for a lovely 😊 afternoon tea ☕️ AT THE LANESBOROUGH!!! Its the hotel my dad worked at when he was really young! It was one of the the poshest meals I've ever had! My fave sandwich was was the ham and 🧀 with mustard in nut and raisin bread, it grew on me anyway. After that were the cakes and scones with homemade jam and clotted cream, my favourite cake was like a giant Ferrero Roche and it was so delicious! Dad's Review Food9 Service9 Price££££ Pretty much 20 years to the day since I stepped back through the doors of No. 1 Hyde Park Corner. Although this time I was welcomed through the main entrance and not made scurry down a cast iron spiral staircase into the bowels of the hotel, where my earliest days were spent grafting as a young chef. The opulence is overwhelming even for the most seasoned diner, Celeste, now the restaurant to the Lanesborough boasts one Michelin star. A grand piano tinkles away in the corner (part of me wondering whether its the same old man who used to play when I was here last) and waiters dressed as if they just stepped straight out of the 1950's usher people quickly and professionally to their tables. The quality of the pastries were up there with the tastiest I've ever eaten. They manage to look as pretty as a picture but not so clinical that you are actually too afraid to ruin them with 2 quick bites. This is really is a once in long while type of occasion but it was worth it for the look on Elise's face, and all the 'wows' and 'ahhhs' that came with it! thelanesborough thelanesboroughhotel hydeparkcorner afternoontea dadanddaughter dadeliseandfood bloggers bloglife londonreview londonrestaurants afternoontea

REVIEW TIME!! Elise's Review Food8 Drink7 ChildFriendliness10 When walked into the cafe I knew that the people and food was was going to be delightful and once again I was 💯% correct. Not only the food but the people were lovely 😊,the colourful atmosphere was breathtaking I could have sat outside all day just watching the sunrise and set but the food made it extra special. My eggs with spianch and smoked salmon was very nice, the egg was perfectly cooked and the English muffin was lovely and bouncy it all seemed fresh as a daisy. Dads Review Food7.5 Service8 Price££ We've just moved to Surrey Quays and I think we've found our local breakfast spot. The Canada Water Cafe might not boast the most imaginative of names but its bursting with colour and ran by an attentive bunch of Italians. They open as a pizzeria/restaurant in the evenings and serve up some well sourced breakfast bits and pieces. My full English had some great quality bacon and sausage, well cooked eggs and they were happy to give me some wilted spinach and roasted cherry tomatoes in place of mushrooms, my one and only kryptonite at the dinner table. REVIEW TIME 🍝 Elise's Review Food9 Service9 Childfriendliness9 When I stepped into Emilia's I knew the food was going to be special the atmosphere was incredible and I loved being by the water, it was like being on holiday. When the pesto pasta reached my taste buds they danced like they were walking on waves. My dad and I chomped, swallowed and inhaled the lemon and almond cake with vanilla gelato for dessert! 🍰🍰🍰 Dad's Review Food7 Service8 Price£££ St Katherine's Dock feels a bit like being in little Monaco on a sunny London evening. Crowds of people sit shoulder to shoulder along all the eateries that line the water's edge. Amelia's is squished in between a couple of chain restaurants and at first sight I felt a little let down as there were only a few customers sat in the tiny cafe space. Being handed the menu by an Italian speaker quickly helped to ease my worries. The fact you can see big sacks of '00' flour and an interesting looking pasta machine got us excited too. Elise went straight for a house favourite with pesto casarrece (pasta twists) and i had smoked salmon bucatini (wide linguini). The portions aren't huge, the salads are a little disappointing and the cocktails need some work but the pasta is a proper treat. REVIEW!! Elise's Review Food7 Service9 Childfriendl9 I thought it was really clever how they serve smaller pizzetta for kids. Although i preferred my dads pizza because the flavours worked better together and I love capers! Their pizza oven is so big that it takes up half of the kitchen, which is half of the whole space. Seen as the place is outside of Tesco I was once again surprised by the quality of the food and how charming the tiny restaurant is. Dad's Review Food8 Service8 Price££ We'd walked past this pizza place in Tesco carpark a bunch of times and not thought anything of it. Turns out its independent and ran by an Italian couple! It actually looks pretty cool, sat in an old storage container, painted blue and just a stone's throw from Canada Water. I love how this city has changed over the last decade, food wise, now you can find small pop ups and and independents in the most unlikely of places. Dont just walk by if you see these guys spinning dough in Tesco carpark, go in and show your support for their great little setup.
