People often ask me what I eat. Aside from cookies 🤗 ... if I’m at home 7 times out of 10 I’ll make myself a big salad of whatever I’ve got on hand. Escarole, lettuce, radicchio, avocado, leftover roast chicken, radishes, grated carrots, feta, etc...any and all get tossed in a mustardy vinaigrette with shallots...although sometimes I slip a bit of minced garlic in there too.

Contrary to what you may have seen on my Instagram stories this weekend, I do (occasionally) leave my kitchen 😀 In this case I played hooky & met a friend at a new café that I’ve been anxious to go to, @echo_deli in Paris - we had a terrific meal and we loved the food that @moreacidmoresalt is doing. There are a few things I can’t get enough of. In addition to the white wine in that glass, I love radicchio and farro. Ok, I love bacon, too. Here they come together in a fabulous Farrotto, a risotto-like dish made with farro or wheat berries instead of the rice. There’s a great tip in the recipe for getting the same creamy texture as rice, using farro or wheat berries, that works wonders. This was one of the best things I’ve made this year. Granted the year is only 6 weeks old, so I have a ways to go. But I plan to make it again (and again) before the year is up. At least until the radicchio runs out at the marché.
