It's easy to fall into the trap: A workout buddy passes along an exercise tip, and then you pass it on to several folks you know. Your gym coach gives you advice, and sure enough you hear the same thing from several other colleagues. So you figure it must be true. This pie chart depicts what factors make up fat loss. The specific numbers are not important; they're estimates at best. Note that I'm only going over variables that individuals can directly control and manipulate. The point I want to drive home is that nutrition is by far and above the most important determinant of fat loss - namely, a consistent calorie deficit along with ample protein is required for fat loss to take place. After that, resistance training is also crucial as it helps retain lean body mass in an energy deficit. And cardio is considered to be the least important, contrary to what most people think. Finally, underlying all of this is sleep and stress. While resting well every night and having low stress won't alone make you shredded, they can absolutely hinder progress - and at times even sabotage it - when not properly managed. To lose weight, the general rule of thumb is to ultimately obtain a negative energy balance. And for that, you need to understand the Energy Balance Equation to Lose Fat. It's simple.👇 . Energy In – Energy Out = Change in Body Stores (Weight) . This is referred to as the “energy balance equation.” It’s the basic formula for how body weight is regulated in all living organisms — including humans. There is no other way to lose fat (except liposuction) besides creating a caloric deficit. It’s an inescapable reality. It’s how every human has ever lost weight. 🍊 ORANGE JUICE VS DAIRY MILK 🍫 . Just have a glass of orange juice for breakfast buddy, It comes from a fruit so it must be healthy, right? - Not so fast. . 🤔 Now for some reason orange juice is perceived as healthy. That’s understandable, given that it is natural (kind of) and has the word “orange” in it, and an orange is a fruit. . 🤚🏿 However… what many people fail to realise is that most orange juices which are found in the shelves of supermarkets are also LOADED with sugar. In fact, orange/fruit juice contains just as much sugar and calories as a sugary soft drink… and sometimes even more. . ✅ Now orange juice does contain Vitamin C and is a decent source of folate, potassium and Vitamin B1. It also contains antioxidants. So it gets a win there over the chocolate. . ❌ But calorie for calorie (or sugar gram for sugar gram), it is nutritionally poor compared to whole oranges and other plant foods like vegetables. And when compared to a Dairy Milk (pictured) or even a Coca Cola, it actually contains MORE sugar. . 💭 Interesting huh? Something to ponder over next time you’re waiting for your toast to pop and thinking about quenching that morning thirst. . 😎 Bottom Line: It's really pick your poison with these two. While orange juice contains SOME nutrients, but less compared to many plant foods. @ep_fashion and I's relationship is something that I can't even explain without it sounding too good to be true. This girl seriously blows my mind each and every day and I'm still amazed at how happy she makes me. I feel like Ester and I have been together for 5+ years when in reality it's not even half that and to me that's so crazy. If you’re worried you’re not eating the right “Fat Burning Foods”…OR have no idea what they might be…I have good news for you 👇🏼 . THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "FAT BURNING FOODS!!" No such food exists 🙅🏻 . Some people claim that eating certain foods, like certain vegetables 🌱, nuts🥜, and plant proteins🍠, accelerates weight loss whereas eating others, like dairy🍚, wheat, and other types of carbohydrate🍛, slows the process down. Here's the truth 👉🏼 The only real fat burning "thing" there is, is a CALORIC DEFICIT. The only thing you need to do for fat loss to take place is consume less calories than you burn. This creates a deficit of calories, and that causes your body to burn your own stored body fat for energy instead. This is the▪️ONLY thing that will ever allow you to lose fat from the entire body as a whole, and this is the ONLY▪️ way the human body is actually capable of losing fat. That doesn't mean there aren't foods that are more *ideal* for eating when fat loss is your goal. Because there are. Specifically, foods high in protein (because a sufficient protein intake prevents muscle loss, controls hunger and increases TEF), foods high in fiber (also helps with hunger control), and simply high quality foods in general that you ACTUALLY ENJOY EATING (because this will make your diet feel less like torture, thereby making you more likely to stick to it) are at the top of that list. The foods you want to avoid when dieting to lose weight are those that are very calorie dense, high in dietary fat and added sugar, but which aren’t all that filling.▪️ . .-= FAILURES =-. . The recovery period post my leg surgery led me to a sedentary lifestyle. I walked with crutches for a few months, and I was made redundant in sports. I got addicted to online gaming. I used to play for 16 hours a day. I was glued to the computer. The only time I would get up, was to use the restroom. Naturally, my academics took a beating. Nobody but myself to blame (😁✌️Yolo✌️😁) . I have a big list of failures in school and college:⤵️ . - Failed in Math ▶️7th grade (lost a year) - Failed in Math+Science ▶️10th grade (lost a year) - Failed in Math again ▶️10th grade (retest) (lost a year) - Failed in Math+3 other subjects ▶️12th grade (lost a year) - Failed in Math again ▶️12th grade (retest) (lost a year) . ▪️{Parents force me to take up engineering}▪️ . - Failed in 5 subjects ▶️1st semester engineering (lost a year) - Failed in 2 subjects ▶️ 2nd semester engineering . - Joined a gaming company for a part time job. Got thrown out few months later for not performing well. My list of failures never seem to end. There's more, but that's enough for now. Here's what I would like to tell you: . - Failure is nothing to be afraid of. - If your efforts have resulted in failure, adjust those efforts and continue making them. - Don't let the world convince you that you're a failure just because you don't meet the world's definition of success. - The more experience you have with what doesn't work, the more you'll move in the direction of what does work. - Don't let disappointing results reduce your confidence. It's more realistic, and much more effective, to let each failure strengthen your confidence. Not implying that I am a huge success now. But these are just my thoughts on failure and how you can overcome it. Silent Reflection is one of those things for which we just have to carve out time. Chances are, it could be a golden opportunity for you to sit and write out your own fitness goals. For just a while, calm your thoughts. In this moment, simply be. In silence, there is much you can know. Beyond thought, there is much you can understand. The concept of ‘silencing’ is giving space and personal time to yourself to think and feel about what you have done so far, while keeping sight of your goals. Reviewing your goals is as important as setting them. Sometimes we get so caught up in working out and eating right, that we forget to take time to review on our progress toward them. It’s exciting to write down a list of new goals. It’s fun to go to the gym everyday. But it’s scary to view our progress with a critical eye– it means we have to overcome our fear of failure. Albert Einstein said, “Adversity introduces a man to himself.”. However, some of us have been running for so long we have lost the true essence of who we really are. I think it's time to reflect and take an honest look in the mirror. Get ready to meet the real you. What is stopping you from achieving your fitness goals? How honest are you to yourself? Back when I first started working out, I ALWAYS PROCRASTINATED! - "I will get serious with my diet from tomorrow/from next week/from next Monday" and so on.. . Procrastination is an easy way that all of us get stuck. And yet, we may not even realize we’re doing it. When we unknowingly act like an Avoider, we create reasons in our heads that supply us with enough logic that we can delay the task at hand — sometimes indefinitely. . 🔥HERE ARE A FEW TIPS TO GET STARTED ON ELIMINATING PROCRASTINATING FROM YOUR DAILY ROUTINE:🔥 . ✔ Remind yourself that there’s always more to be done than can be done. Then ask yourself if you’re getting the right things done. . ✔ Make a smart to-do list by including only the items that you’re avoiding, not the ones you know you’ll do anyway. Then set deadlines. . ✔ Break the task down to lessen the sense of being overwhelmed. Once you start to enjoy a small accomplishment or two, you’re more likely to finish. . ✔ Eliminate temptation by doing something else by breaking the pattern of giving in Example - If you are REALLY craving a pizza, take a cold shower and go read a book. . ✔ Bargain with yourself. If you finish the workout now, you can eat a small cup of ice-cream. . ✔ Focus on the success you will achieve, and the joy you will feel. . ✔ Come up with a consequence that will deter you from avoiding the task. Example - If you don’t exercise two times a week, you have to give up talking on the phone with your friends. . ✔ Ask someone to help you complete the task. Take help. . ✔ Make your intentions public. This will add pressure, but for some of us, avoiding embarrassment is the mightiest motivator. . There are always going to be people who do wrong to you, phone calls you don’t want to answer, decisions you don’t know how to make, responsibility you don’t want to take, surprises you wish never came, and you make another reason why you just couldn’t get to it yet. Something will always go wrong. Excuses will arise. Results will suck. Progress will stagnate. Humans will disappoint. You’ll disappoint yourself. And you will get TIRED. But, that’s fine. It’s - okay. The answer isn’t in saying “fuck it.” The answer is becoming unfuckwithable, so no matter what happens—because something will always happen— you will figure it out. A long time ago, I was forced to become unfuckwithable when I was just a young boy. They all wanted to me to fit into a mold. Become a doctor, get a good job, marriage, kids, stability, blah blah... ya know? The societal bullshit. It’s easy to let the bullshit consume you—and there will be plenty of people ready to give their opinions. It's easy get caught up in the world and its drama, and to feel helpless. But, I discovered the beauty in not giving a damn. At first this felt irresponsible, but there’s an unspoken power in not apologizing all over yourself. This arises from deep love and self respect. Unfuckwithable is just about -▪️Staying detached▪️-. Yes, absolutely detached to all the bullshit. You neither feel high headed to all the good praises people give you, nor let the negativity/hate consume you. You are just - there - as a watcher. Without judgement, without prejudices, witnessing whatever is happening. Unfuckwithable is not apologizing for being unconventional or making mistakes or having to ask one more time, or for doing it in the first place. ▪️This post for example - You may wonder, why I would post something like this on a fitness page?▪️ Well, you know the answer now. . Unfuckwithable is an attitude. Unfuckwithable is freedom. Unfuckwithable is what happens when you believe that your work matters, and nobody else's. That’s unfuckwithable! Love yourself first, only then can you love others. ___________

Weight gain occurs when the number of calories you consume exceeds the amount used to fuel your activities and your metabolism. Virtually any food, can contribute to weight gain if eaten in quantities that cause you to exceed your maintenance level of calorie intake. However, rice is no more likely to cause weight gain than other foods if eaten in appropriate portions as part of a well-balanced, healthful nutrition plan. It really depends on how much of what you eat. If you stuff yourself with 5000 calories of oats and spinach thinking it's healthy, you WILL gain weight. Losing weight is a number game. Calories in < Calories out = Lose weight Calories in > Calories out = Gain weight Calories in = Calories out = Maintain weight Rice can be a part of a healthy lifestyle. However, the rest of your diet and lifestyle has a big influence on health. If you live a primarily sedentary lifestyle, and you stuff your face with snickers and pizza and use the above calorie rule. Well, it's not gonna work. A calorie is definitely not a calorie. The body responds differently to each macronutrient. Therefore having a balanced macronutrient ratio is also vital. For healthy ways to incorporate rice into your diet, eat small portions of rice.  Eat larger amounts of higher fiber foods like fruits, vegetables, and some protein. Balance is key. This does not mean you have to completely avoid rice. I am in a dilemma. And I need your help 👇 . Many people tell me: - "Nair, you need to post more pictures of your abs dude!" - "How will people know that you're a coach?" - "How are you going to motivate people?" - "What is the point of this, if you don't showcase your physique?" - " How are you going to run a fitness page, without showing your muscles?" - "Nobody gives a shit about what you write, why don't you post more pictures of your biceps?" . ....and many more. If you notice, there is NOT A SINGLE FITNESS PAGE on the internet, which exists without showcasing their physiques. It seems like they are a must, or compulsory. Countless pictures of flexing, endless selfies in the gym, tons of pictures of abs, and the infamous "belfie" or a butt selfie while pouting etc,. Are being posted every single day, all in the name of "motivation hardwork inspiration fitness" . But are they REALLY giving SOMETHING back to people or just begging for attention? It's really sickening to see the entire fitness industry turning towards social media for attention whoring. It is just that 👉 A deep begging for attention. . > Getting likes, followers, compliments from the masses. > You feel good about yourself. >You get a nice ego boost. >You get a sense of accomplishment. You might have the world's best physique, or the cutest ass on the planet. But you are a beggar deep down. There's a void which needs filling and people fill it for you. There. I said it. I admit, I got into the fitness industry doing the exact same thing. And now, I want to get out of this sickness. I am in a dilemma because, I do not want to post pictures of my biceps or a selfie sticking my butt out. I do not want to post pictures of my physique. Training legs is hard, painful and quite a challenge even today. I still have a lot of limitations. I cannot run, tiptoe, hop, stand long on my right foot/leg. My right calf is non existent. I cannot balance on one foot, put any pressure on my toes, I have severe ankle restrictions which doesn't allow me to do certain movements. I have to alter my way of training. Heck, I cannot walk without tripping over.▪️ . I always get a lot stares from people every time I train legs. I also experience a lot of discomfort while training legs. But that doesn't stop me from training them. I don't remember skipping a leg workout. Heck, I don't remember skipping "any" workout. When did I last skip a workout because of sheer laziness or because "I didn't feel like" you ask me?... Umm.. Maybe 8 years ago I think. I really don't know. I can't recall either. How am I so consistent? Because I LOVE doing what I do. I love to train, I love to push myself to the limits, I love to overcome my flaws and I LOVE to compete with myself, and I do that - Every. Single. Day. I realized that my biggest competition is the person staring back at me in the mirror every morning. The Barbell Squat is the king of all exercises. They said if you cant squat, you cannot get big legs. Well, what's the point of squatting if you are making excuses all day, sitting in your comfort zone, and not pushing past failure?▪️ . Success is not for the weak and uncommitted... Sometimes it’s gonna hurt!... Yes, it's gonna hurt real bad - both physically and emotionally. ....Suck It up! Stop the blame game. Stop!.. Stop looking out the window and look in the mirror! That's your biggest competition. It's You vs You. I cannot do a normal Squat. I cannot do a normal Lunge. Neither can I run. Always remember - When the tree grows upwards, its roots meanwhile are growing downwards. If the tree only grows upwards it will fall, it will not be able to remain rooted in the soil. The bigger the tree, the deeper it has to go downwards. The roots go into the soil and the branches grow into the sky, and then there is a great balance. It is almost in proportion. The bigger tree will have bigger roots, and the proportion is almost the same. There is a balance. But, if a tree only goes downwards, it will be meaningless; and if a tree only goes upwards, it will not be able to exist. And that's exactly what has what happened to people who can't find motivation. You keep looking for something/someone to keep you motivated. Your search for motivation is one sided. You search for motivational videos on YouTube, watch an inspirational documentary, listen to a motivational speech, read a motivational book, listen to motivational speakers etc Your search for motivation is meaningless. Your motivation search is external, unbalanced, one sided. You never go inward. You never question yourself - How bad do I want that goal? How much am I willing to sacrifice? Do I have what it takes to get to the end? If a tree simply goes upwards and forgets to grow its roots, it will fall down; it cannot grow very far. It will be at most seasonal. Flowers will come and within weeks they will be gone. It will be seasonal. Just like your motivation. Very seasonal. It doesn't last through the entire journey. There needs to be a balance. A proportion. I encourage you to stop looking for motivation on the outside always. Please remember that the overweight woman struggling to perform a body weight squat in the corner of a room may have already lost 10kgs of fat and working her tail off to get healthy for her children. Please keep in mind that the fellow gym member keeping to himself during his workout may just be incredible shy and doesn't intend to come out as unfriendly or snobby. It's easy to like yourself when you're in amazing shape. It's easy to feel confident when you have hundreds of followers oogling over your selfies on Instagram or Facebook. But still respecting and helping others who are trying hard to shed those extra kilos? Now THAT'S a challenge. Being fit or having a 6-pack doesn't automatically make you awesome. It doesn't necessarily make you a better person. You don't become morally superior to others. Your life doesn't become more exciting or fantastic. The way you treat people still matters. Be kind. But hey, improvisation is associated with poetry, music, dance, and drama. But how do you Improvise in the gym? 🤔 Play. That's right. Playing is a superb way to learn and improve. Being overly serious and rigid can bring your creativity to a standstill. Relax, and give yourself permission to play, and play is what I did :) . Because, the tasks you enjoy most are the tasks at which you're most effective. Approach your workouts with a playful sense of delight, and enjoy the experience of improved performance. . I usually use the Preacher Curl Bench to, well duh! — Curl of course! But I also use it to stretch my lower back too. And that's how I came up with this exercise for my Upper Back/Rear Delt. I've also come to realize that it's an amazing exercise to isolate your Rhomboids as well! . 🔩◾—THE PREACHER CURL BENCH REVERSE FLY —◾🔩 . 🔗You will need:— - 2 heavy dumbbells to keep the bottom of your foot stable and prevent your foot from rising up. . 🔗Instructions:— 1. Lie down face first on a Preacher Curl Bench (Head facing the seat) 2. Place the heel of your foot in between each Dumbbell head and foot firmly planted on the floor. 2. Rest your pelvis on the Bench Pad & grab a pair of dumbbells of moderate weight. 3. Keeping your arms slightly bent and rotating at the shoulders only, slowly raise the dumbbells up following a semi-circle path while squeezing your shoulder blades together. 5. Pause, and then slowly lower the weight back to the starting position. I personally love this exercise because I get a better isolation and lets me go heavier than my usual weight. Most of you may not know this.⬇️ . I was born with a club foot. Walking was challenging, and to run around like normal kids was far from my imagination. All I wanted to do was to walk normally. Growing up was hard. To see the other kids run around and play, and to realize I could never run was very disheartening. I had a special shoe designed for my needs. But I never gave up. Would you guys believe me if I said, I had visualized THIS VERY DAY 10 years ago?... Yes that's right. I saw THIS DAY 10 years ago when I was fat, chubby and low on self-confidence. I visualized in great detail of me posting a video after achieving my goal physique and helping/inspiring others to get there. Obviously, I didn't visualize posting it on 'Instagram', because it never existed back then. But I clearly visualized posting the video. I want to tell you guys that you have the power to VISUALIZE. And what you intensely and persistently visualize, you will create. Before you can go where you want to go, you must know exactly where that is. Seeing the destination clearly and in rich detail puts you well on the way there. Visualization not only enables you to clearly see what you wish to do. It also gets you to profoundly feel the reason why. This doesn't mean you live in a dreamy state. No. Visualize, but keep your eyes on the horizon. Know what you want, and you're on your way there. Looking back at my old fat picture, it has been a tough journey with a lot of setbacks and failures. I hate it when people come up to me and ask - How much time will it take to lose 'x' amount of weight? . Well, do you really want to know how much time it would take? . The answer to that question would be - HOW MUCH EVER TIME IT TAKES! . Because, it does not matter how much time it will take, but the fact that you will not give up - NO MATTER WHAT!.Success is achieved not just by taking the first, impressive and exciting step. Success comes from taking the next step, and the next and the next, until the work is done. By being relentless and going at it, day after day - THAT brings success! My journey so far has been amazing! It's a roller coaster ride! Lots of ups and downs. To succeed, you would need perseverance, work ethic, and a vision for yourself.
