So obviously I have been to some spectacular places around the world but there have been so many cool experiences close to home. I absolutely adore Botanic Gardens and we're really lucky to have such a great one here in Denver. I've been going since I was a kid and still love coming to this place. In 2015, the corpse flower (with the funniest scientific name Amorphophallus titanum ~ misshapen giant penis) but I digress) bloomed for the first time. Though it wasn't quite as stinky as people were hoping it would be, it was really cool to see but for me, even better that so many people were coming to visit one of my fave spots in the city. And even cooler, a few weeks later, I would get to visit a side of the DBG that many don't. This pic is from the inside of that particular greenhouse! And I got to see many of their collections and some of the research that was being conducted ~ if ya didn't know, I ❤️ science and learning and being able to do that in such beautiful environs...well I guess my point is that experiences can be had wherever you are. But the best ones are the ones that move you ~ find what makes you happy, what makes you curious, what makes you think, what makes you laugh, what takes you out of your comfort zone ~ so go on and explore. The world isn't just what is out there in those faraway, exotic lands...it's all around you.

Life is what you make of it ~ sometimes you are incredibly lucky: by birth ~ being born in a certain country ~ maybe you'll get intelligence, looks, charisma, or socioeconomic means. And then there are the times that you have to make your own luck. No I do not have the perfect life ~ everything on Insta is heavily curated including by me but it is true that I am living a pretty blessed life. I post pictures from past and current travels (and yes, I paid for those trips myself) and from my home in Colorado, USA. I am well aware of the good fortune that I have had in my life but I also have made many difficult decisions that have lead me to where I am now (two of the featured articles on my blog talk about these two subjects). So I am the person that will always tell you that if you aren't happy with how the story of your life is going ~ your ending hasn't been written yet ~ the next chapter is still being set up so change what needs to be changed. And many times, it's internal ~ the most important thing I can tell you: that you always have a choice ~ sometimes it's to be the maker of your own destiny and sometimes it's simply how you respond to a situation but don't forgot your agency. So take action and responsibility. So look at it as everyone and everything can be a blessing or a lesson...with love and light, Rosemary ❤️❤️❤️

Thought maybe it's time to answer some questions I get asked frequently: ~~~~ So yes unless noted I am the photographer that snapped the pics. I have posted shots taken from various models of iPhone, a GoPro and of course, my trusty Nikon. Best camera is the one that you have on you ~ so for me, it's worth it to haul around a DSLR. ~~~ *For the pictures of me ~ I traveled to many places without my tripod due to space and weight considerations ~ so I would prop my camera up wherever and use an app that essentially works as a remote. I now try to travel with a tripod since I can control the height and angle so much better. Also have a small flexible tripod for the iPhone. And lots of equipment for the GoPro. Pictures turn out wayyy better than asking a stranger. ~~~ * I rarely post unedited shots ~ I don't tend to use filters but I like to play around with lighting, contrast, saturation, etc. I use a few different apps Lightroom, Afterlight, Enlight, and Snapseed. ~~~ *one last note: I don't photoshop in certain ways ~ if you get to places early enough, you can be the only person there and if it's a sunrise, you have the bonus of golden hour light. So I don't remove people ~ I just get there when there's no one or only a few people around. And as for myself, I also don't photoshop my body. I'm pretty lucky genetically and stay relatively active so that's that. ~~~ Okay what else are you wanting to know?

metoo TW: Sexual harassment/assault Alyssa Milano tweeted a note that read "Suggested by a friend: If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote "Me too" as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem." This is too important for me not to support and write about even though I'm not on Twitter This is something I've written about before...and it's something that I've had to deal with for almost as long as I can remember ~ incidents starting in elementary school and still occurring now. It has happened here in Colorado and also in almost every locale, I have travelled to. I have been catcalled, followed and menaced while walking, running and in vehicles, I've been groped by countless strangers countless times and yes I am also a survivor/victim of sexual assault. There have been too many times that I have been fearful for my safety when vastly outnumbered by a group of males surrounding me. I really can't even speculate on the number of times that I have been grabbed or groped ~ at the huge wave pool at Water World when I was maybe seven or eight by older men to walking through clubs or bars now. Oh and verbal harassment isn't something to brush off lightly or label as "boys being boys or it's just locker room talk". The things I have had said to me...ugh downright disgusting and can't be put into print. Instead of more examples I'll reiterate that my body and my sexuality are my own and I am not a product to be consumed at someone's convenience and pleasure. Nick Jack Pappas tweeted: Men, Don't say you have a mother, a sister, a daughter... Say you have a father, a brother, a son who can do better. We all can. MeToo So know that you're not alone...but also please don't let fear and sexual harassment/assault define you or stop you. Even after everything that I have seen/experienced, I still find that the world is an incredibly beautiful place and that so much more good than bad exists.

I think that my shots are a mix of a little bit of luck, great locations and some skill ~ I look to capture the essence or energy of a place and hope to make people feel like they're right there visiting these places. And some times, it all comes together ~ remember that Instagram is highly stylized, edited and my feed is no different. I have taken tens maybe even hundreds of thousands of pictures by now and you get only what I consider the best...hope you enjoy. I love this snap ~ it has all the elements I was talking about early ~ luck that there is only A in the shot, the beautiful strange Arbol de Piedra (Stone Tree) in the gorgeous antiplano region of Bolivia and I had taken some shots early close up that were just okay. Once I backed up and had the rock formation against the backdrop of the mountains, you could feel more the isolation and how it came to be...and A balances out the shot.

Time is such an interesting concept...how can it be that I was in Tanzania and taking this picture three years ago? I can vividly recall so many parts of my Kilimanjaro hike and even how this picture unfolded as if it were yesterday...or even currently happening. Amusing interaction with a hotel worker as I commented on how the water was "baridi sana" or very cold ~ and how I wish it was a heated pool and he laughed and stated "yes, the water is very cold. Ma'am, you are in Africa, the water is always cold." But then I think about how it also feels like it was so many lifetimes ago ~ because in a lot of ways it was. My life has changed so much since then and so have I. It's been quite the adventure and I still wake up grateful for all that I have seen, experienced and have and hopeful for all that is yet to come.

We took the path that led others nowhere and only we saw the light at the end of the tunnel. They warned us about the monsters we would encounter, the odds that we would meet. And they laughed when we got the scars while fighting the dragons on our way. When we came back out of the tunnel, holding the sword that they always craved for tightly in our hand. Bleeding and the sun shining on our face. We became the tales they wanted to be. We became the reflections of what they always wanted to see themselves through. We became the warriors they had always imagined of. Akshay Vasu

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. May your rivers flow without end, meandering through pastoral valleys tinkling with bells, past temples and castles and poets towers into a dark primeval forest where tigers belch and monkeys howl, through miasmal and mysterious swamps and down into a desert of red rock, blue mesas, domes and pinnacles and grottos of endless stone, and down again into a deep vast ancient unknown chasm where bars of sunlight blaze on profiled cliffs, where deer walk across the white sand beaches, where storms come and go as lightning clangs upon the high crags, where something strange and more beautiful and more full of wonder than your deepest dreams waits for you -- beyond that next turning of the canyon walls. Edward Abbey Go out and explore and may your adventures be grand....and include the Grand Canyon 😍

One thing that I try to do is travel responsibly...I went to an elephant sanctuary instead of riding an elephant. And the experience was amazing ~ we watched them roll around in mud ~ and feed and bathed them. It's really cruel how elephant are tortured not trained for riding...It won't be stopped until there's no more demand for tourist attractions so let's do our part. 🐘 ❤️

18) “What you seek is seeking you.” – Rumi So this may not always seem like this is the case but really I believe this to be so true. But you also have to embrace this ~ open yourself up fully by letting go of what is holding you back and breaking down the barriers that stand in your way. So two years ago I left ~ not knowing what to expect and who/what I would find. I learned that who I once was and even who I currently am didn't lock me into who I could be ~ but I had to let go of anger and bitterness and resentment along the way. I had to learn to forgive and let go of expectations/ideals that were put on me by others. I started to construct a life and reality that was true to myself ~ to my needs, wants and desires. I realized that what I really wanted was to find calm, peace, happiness, contentment, light and love. Eventually I came home ~ changed after my travels but in many ways, I was the same person I have always been. I learned that all those things that I wanted, that I transversed the globe for were within me the entire time ~ that they had made their way through the universe and were there waiting. And I continue to nurture myself and my spirit by surrounding myself with people who look at life as an amazing adventure ~ share in laughter and fun ~ will dance through the night ~ understand that yes life revolves around food ~ engage in long soulful talks ~ have a zeal to live and engage fully ~ share my infinite curiosity ~ I am completely grateful for this amazing life that I have especially the incredible group of people that I'm lucky enough to have as friends and family 💕 May your search be as fruitful as mine and I send you light and love to guide you on your journey 💕💕💕

There must be exceptions to every rule ~ and one place where being early to greet the sun rising doesn't guarantee a quiet morning or solitude is Angor Wat. Actually the exact opposite...we started the morning before 4 and sat in the darkness peering at the line of lights from the Tuk Tuks that seemed never ending. It was amazing to me that so many people were actually getting up so early! But we were rewarded handsomely that day ~ the dark night soon gave way to the skies during purple then pink then a combination of oranges and yellows... Oh and Siem Reap is amazing place with so many organizations that are doing such amazing work. I love finding such great gems that help support the local economy and people...

I think that there's something about being out of your comfort zone ~ that is where you really start to learn to trust yourself fully and learn to embrace change. I've changed so much in the past few years ~ and continue to look forward to what lies ahead ~ each day, month, year seems to be getting better and better ❤️ so here's to a life well lived ~ filled with adventure, growth and of course love and light always Rosemary Speaking of pushing yourself but also trusting yourself ~ I drove through the night ~ 11 hours to make the sunrise at the Grand Canyon. But I also know that I don't need a lot of sleep and can function well ~ thank goodness because there were some close calls with wildlife in the roads ~ especially the eerie presence of bison in Grand Canyon NP ~ extremely blessed and grateful for this beautiful life and being able to explore this beautiful world...

As much as I love traveling, I absolutely am in love with home. I feel so lucky to live in Denver and Colorado ~ the city is great, the people are friendly, the weather is incredible ~ no really, we have over 300+ days of sunshine annually. And there's always things to see and do ~ near and far in the state. I love museums ~ I am a nerd at heart and love, love learning about things. I've been going to this museum since I was a child and still come back for the IMAX films and the exhibits probably two-three times a year. But maybe my favorite thing/place is here ~ the atrium and this view of my city and the mountains. 😍 What's your favorite spot/hidden gem at home?

It's funny how often life doesn't work out the way that you are planning ~ and in surprising and beautiful ways. Even this post ~ I originally was going to make it about places that @instagram has inspired me to visit: Salar de Uyuni or the Salt Flats in Bolivia but that was actually not the best part of my tour. Sure the endless horizon makes for some great perspective snaps but it was the rest of the desert and the incredible landscapes that I recall first. And then there was the night we stayed at the hot springs...an incredible sunset followed by watching the moon rise from the horizon and stargazing in the hot waters ~ with friends from all over the world. Moments like that are what I cherish the most about traveling. What's your favorite place/memory that surprised you in the best way?
