Just out and about doing what FrazierFitness dies2and ran into this place called @ExerciseCoach , a 20 minute workout based all off of computerized calculations and analytics that gives you feedback from the isometric standpoint of movement. This is fully focused on eccentric and concentric movements where one set can take 5 minutes for 2 reps and then you finish with 5 minutes of interval training...very intriguing to say the least. Repost @strongeight ( @get_repost) ・・・ ‼️IS SQUATTING SPORT SPECIFIC?⁉️ ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️ To examine this first one must remember the number one rule of a strength coach... as a strength professional our role is to make the entire human body a more supremely powerful and capable mechanism. ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️ The second rule is that over specificity is the mother of all fuck ups in “sports performance” training in America, that is, yes you must train the mechanism in not only the planes of movement, but the physiological means of movements FIRST, for individual or specific mechanics to function at high levels... so GPP (general physical preparedness) and the (special physical preparedness) AKA train general in the weightroom to improve specifically on the field ... YOU CAN NEVER MIMIC THE SPORT IN THE WEIGHT ROOM. The brain does that, not a strength coach, or a doctor or even a “mobility specialists” ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️ Third, you must actually understand the physiology of sport... and then the physics and then the biomechanics of the sport, an inadequate understanding of either or all of these is a recipe for disaster, and no letters after your name do not mean you do... ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️ So now that we have that out of the way, have you ever heard of the stretch reflex? What about passive elastic energy? Deformation? ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️ Well the wide stance box squat is a GENERAL exercise that can have very specific transfers to the field, first the exercise helps us break up the eccentric concentric chain and increase the athletes ability to produce tension and utilize passive ranges of motion and tissue deformation to explode out of a position, ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️ In addition it helps us diagnose trunk instabilities (yes it’s called trunk, if you call it core please read more) and assess structural balance, second it helps to adequately attack the ad/abductor, gluteus and hamstrings more so than ANY other type of squat, dead lift or ANY nonsense functional stuff. ▫️▫️▫️▫️ And finally it’s the place all athletic movements start, ON TWO FUCKING FEET.
