If you followed my last post you will know I was faced with a vintage audio dilemma. Sansui 9090 or Pioneer SX 1050? Which monster receiver should I go with? The Sansui was in too good of shape to pass up. It had a professionally refinished wood case, a perfect face and a “wow” factor that the SX 1050 was missing. It is slightly wider than the Pioneer but it is a couple of inches less deep which will make it easier for me to fit on my stands. I guess I should get it up off the floor. I must remember to bend at the knees and lift carefully. It is a beast! sansui9090 sansui vintagesansui pioneer monsterreceiver vintageaudio

I just sold my Sansui 7000 to a guy named Steve. Now I am looking at replacing it with either a Pioneer SX 1050 or a Sansui 9090. The Sansui is in better condition but it is spoken for. The Pioneer has a tiny chip in the face. The Sansui has a refinished case and is stunning. Sansui or Pioneer? pioneersx1050 sansui pioneer vintagereceiver monsterreceiver silverface innovativeaudio

This amp is actually more powerful than the sun. If you were an evil evil villain you could potentially use this to take over the world. At 300 watts per channel it is indeed dangerous. Good thing it has its own cooling fan. It looks a little more futuristic than its time. It was produced from 1975-1977. My Dad had a Dual so they have some sentimental value to me. I like their plinth and overall vibe but those dark tinted dustcovers just seem hideous to me. I found a guy who builds these Chrome Dual's that are just awesome. One is stock and the other is one of his rebuilds. Dr. Dual is based out of eastern Canada. The 1019 is my favourite. I came across this Sansui TR 707a today. It has been completely restored and is in incredible condition considering it is from 1965. I believe this is the first solid state receiver Sansui ever produced. A little piece of history. I am considering moving some pieces to add this to the collection. It is only 50 watts but the build quality is unbelievable. sansui sansuireceiver sansuitr707a vintageaudio phono silverface classy vintagereceiver

I wanted to own a pair of these Dynaco A25s for the longest time. I finally came across a Craig's list add for a mint pair with badges and could wait no longer. I am pleasantly surprised by the sound. To find grills in this nice of shape was a huge bonus. The cabinets barely have a scratch on them. The album Secret Path by Gord Downie tells the tragic story of a First Nation's boy trying to escape his Residential School in only a windbreaker. He eventually died of exposure and hunger. For you non Canadians he also fronted The Tragically Hip. When asked if he thought of himself more of a singer or a poet? He replied, "Neither I am a dancer." Next to Terry Fox I will remember him as one of the most inspirational Canadians ever. RIP Gord. thetragicallyhip🇨🇦 gorddownie sonyes optonica vintageaudio

After a great deal of tweaking over the last couple of years I believe I am happy with my main setup.....for now. The Sansui 7000 has been a game changer. It is quite compact considering how powerful it is compared to other receivers of it's era and operates beautifully. My relatively new Thoren's belt started mysteriously slipping off recently and had to be replaced so I hope that doesn't start happening again. I will continue to monitor the situation. I do have a secondary system that could use some attention however. sansui sansui7000 silverface thorens vinylsetup vinylcommunity vintage vintagejbl vintagehifi vintage walnut midcentury vintageaudio preservevintageaudio

I enjoyed owning this Marantz 2250 but it has moved on now. I have crossed over to the dark side of Sansui. The technics SL 23 is a reliable performer with a nice vintage look but it probably won't win any awards. I came across this while shopping so the photo doesn't do it justice. It is the Sansui 7000. I have wanted an Eight and a 5000x but this completely slipped under my radar. It looks very similar to the Eight but not quite as cool as the 5000x. It is from 1970 and 70 WPC. I could probably trade this straight across for my Marantz 2250 which hasn't really impressed me. It is in great shape with the original box. Anyone ever hear one of these? marantz sansui sansui7000 vintageaudio vintagehifi silverface makingtrades

If you are into barely noticeable makeovers you are going to love this post. I recently purchased some turntable feet for my Thorens. It was quietly suffering because of its small feet. Not appearing confident at all. Furthermore, people thought it might catch fire due to its tight proximity to my amplifier. I looked for some replacement feet but felt like most options altered it's look too radically. I had always known about Vinyl Nirvana but didn't realize they sold feet specifically designed for my table. They were similar in design but around 4 times bigger. Giving my table just what it needed. This guy is a restoration legend. Check out his card. Vintage Turntable Guru. vinylnirvana thorens vinyl vintageaudio turntable marantz turntableguru

You know when you are a bit embarrassed about loving something? It's complicated. I was really digging this Barbara Streisand/Gibb duet but it's nothing I would open a public conversation with. I can talk about it on Instagram but that is just shit you should keep to yourself! That's the kind of the relationship I have to this stereo. The speakers came to me in a trade and upon first glance I thought they were the ugliest speaker ever made. The mid 80s vinyl rosewood is bad but they sound quite good for their size. I may have trouble giving them away on the street but here I look at them everyday. In love and appreciative of the sound they produce. I need a serious upgrade though. Don't even talk to me about the CD player. That's complicated too!80s recordcabinet vintageaudio optonica technics polkaudio5jr polkaudio sony cdplayer teak midcentury
