I really love the outdoors and their pristine spaces are what keep me coming back. I found this campsite near a beautiful cascading waterfall and while I don't condone building structures like these in nature I'll admit it was incredibly comfortable. The truly sad thing I saw though were all the empty cans and trash littered around. If you carry it in carry it out. And if you find trash in the woods carry that out too. I always try to carry at least one piece of garbage out of the woods with me on each hike. Please keep nature clean.

Route 48 through West Virginia is probably the most scenic drive in the area. Even as a major highway it still has scenic overlook pulloffs due to the incredible beauty it winds through.

On our visit to Shenandoah we got a chance to see some rime ice. Of particular beauty was how it transformed these simple leaves into a beautiful ice flower.

Comment from Peter vanderWal:

One of the coolest things I saw on our trip along skyline drive was a small patch of woods where the mist had frozen to the trees. Because there had also been a breeze that night the ice actually formed horizontally in a wave like shape. When you looked at it it made your eyes cross since it has the weird affect of making everything look smeared like watching a 3D movie with no glasses.
