HEALTH. Is so much more than physical health and what you eat💛 At 9 years old, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I was taught to monitor my blood sugar levels, inject myself with insulin, weigh my food + count my carbs. I was told the devastating consequences of not managing my diabetes properly, and from then on, controlling my blood sugar became my life. Fast forward 2 years and I'd fallen into the trap of thinking I needed to attain perfection. I exercised hours each day + severely restricted my food intake, in order to try to get the 'perfect' levels. I lost weight, I lost my joy for life and I lost my freedom to a demon inside my mind. Years and years of tears, hospitalisations, therapy, appointments, referrals + refeeding later, I can finally see the light again. Nothing has changed - I am still type 1 diabetic, I still have to measure my blood sugars, count carbs + inject insulin. But I will no longer let that consume me. I can honestly say I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the help, love + support of my family, friends and health professionals. For a long time I was too ashamed to speak up - but in the end it saved my life. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness or failure, but one of courage + strength❤️✨ Health goes so far beyond just eating 'healthy'. Your mind and relationship with yourself is truly everything. If you are suffering or need a light to guide you, NEVER be afraid of reaching out. You are not alone and there is SO much hope, I promise. The BEST bowl I've had in a while🌞✨👅 in my opinion, the toppings are the most crucial part of any smoothie bowl, and I admit I'm one of those people that keep adding more toppings as I eat it😉 My favourite smoothie bowl topping at the moment are my crunchy homemade COCOA POPS🙌🏼 they're super tasty, easy to make + such a wholesome version of the original, not to mention refined sugar-free too, using @rawearthsweetener (an all natural blend of stevia + monk fruit🌿)✔️✔️ TO MAKE THEM: - preheat oven to 160°C - mix 2 tbsp raw cacao powder, 2 tbsp @rawearthsweetener + 1 tbsp water to a thick sauce - add 1/4 cup each raw buckwheat + brown rice puffs and mix until completely coated in the choc mixture - spread on a baking paper lined tray + bake for around 10 minutes until crunchy - eat as a smoothie bowl topping, cereal or by the handful and ENJOY!!💛 . . fruit livenaturally ad smoothie vegan veganfood health healthyfood nourish nutrition breakfast recipe sugarfree smoothiebowl snack veganfoodshare fitness fitfood plantbased healthyeats bestofvegan

It took me a long time to learn how important it is to acknowledge things you like about yourself and others, rather than focusing on what I considered to be flaws. Whatever we pour our energy into determines what we will experience. COMFORT FOOD at its very finest😌👌🏼✨ there's not much better than steaming bowl of veggie soup on cold Winter nights, especially when paired with crispy baked potato fries🌿🍟 packed with nourishment + packed with flavour! I love making my own soup, because store bought ones are always LOADED with added sodium that we often don't even realise. Sure we need a little bit, but too much salt makes me feel dehydrated, gives me headaches + overtime can increase the risk of high blood pressure. The @NationalHeartFoundation does a great job of raising awareness to how much sodium is hidden in packaged foods. And personally, I think swapping salt for salternatives such as herbs + spices also makes me appreciate the taste of my food SO MUCH MORE🙏🏼 For the pumpkin soup, I added fresh garlic, ginger and onion, as well as a bit of ground turmeric + dulse flakes for those warming flavours. And the potato chips are covered in garlic and onion powder + smoked paprika. Penne pasta with VEGAN RICOTTA😋🌿🍝 Taking my weeknight pasta dinners to a whole new level🙌🏼 I used @orgran_healthandnutrition's Quinoa Penne, which is my favourite at the moment, and is super wholesome + gluten free too! Perfect for chilly Winter nights like these✨ . RECIPE You will need: - 1 small onion, finely chopped - 2 cloves garlic, minced - 1 can tinned tomatoes - 2 tsp dried mixed herbs - black pepper + salt, to taste - large handful of baby spinach - 1 pack @orgran_healthandnutrition Quinoa Penne - fresh basil . For the ricotta: - 1 cup organic unsweetened soy milk - 1 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar - 1 tsp nutritional yeast - black pepper, to taste . TO MAKE IT: 1. Bring the soy milk to boil in a pot, then remove from heat and stir in the apple cider vinegar so the milk curdles 2. Strain through a nut milk bag, leaving behind the 'ricotta' in the bag 3. Mix in the nutritional yeast and black pepper, and allow to cool in the fridge 4. To make the pasta sauce, sauté the onion and garlic in a pan until fragrant 5. Add in the tinned tomato, 1/2 cup water and the dried herbs. Simmer for about 15 minutes until the sauce thickens 6. Meanwhile, being a pot of water to the boil and cook penne according to directions on the package 7. In a world where you can be anything, BE KIND🐝✨ yesterday was World Animal Day, and this time three years ago I decided to go vegan. Essentially, we are all the same. We feel joy, pain, fear and suffering. We crave love, compassion + light. No matter what they look like or what language they speak, every living being deserves to live a life of freedom. I truly believe that everyone is good deep down in their hearts, and if slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegan. It takes nothing away from us to show kindness to others. Not only does following a plant based diet save countless lives, but in today's society also allows us to live perfectly healthy lives! It's all a matter of standing up for what we believe in and aligning our actions with our values and beliefs🙏🏼 I'll be the first to admit that doing so isn't easy at times. Pressure from society, ease and convenience, habits and traditions are all hard to go against. But when you do it opens up a whole new world of consciousness, possibilities and PEACE🌟 Peace with your body, mind + soul, with our planet and all the beautiful creatures we share it with. I take EAT THE RAINBOW very seriously😉🌿 a nourishing, veggie-packed stir fry with black rice + crispy marinated tempeh, and a flavour explosion👅👅 no meat, no oil, no worries✌🏼️ Speaking of no oil, I get a lot of questions from you all asking how to cook/bake without oil and still make food taste good. HEALTH IS WEALTH🌿🍉🍊🍓🍇 have you noticed any changes since choosing a vegan lifestyle? Or are you still thinking about it?✨ For me, going vegan changed everything! I really began to appreciate food as SO much more than calories, but fuel, nutrients, nourishment, energy and joy. I began to genuinely love food again instead of fearing it.
