tbt repost. . Are "inflammatory foods" a real thing🤔 Absolutely. Had a good talk with a few of my clients this morning regarding this topic. . 🔹An "inflammatory food" would be categorized anything that "upsets" your body when you ingest it. Even though you may love that food choice, it clearly messes with digestion, may cause bloat, stomach pain, etc. . 🔹 This does NOT mean that all inflammatory foods are the same for everybody, in fact, quite the opposite. Ex: I could eat steak for breakfast, lunch, dinner and have no issues. Others can't even handle 4oz of red meat without experiencing stomach pains. . 🔹One of these inflammatory foods for me are bell peppers. I love em, but they bloat me to all hell and give me digestive issues. Now if somebody overhears me saying "I cut out bell peppers because they bloat me and cause inflammation" then it turns into a game of telephone when that person tells other people "I heard you shouldn't eat bell peppers because they bloat you", etc etc etc. Thats how all these "foods" start to become seen as "good" or "bad" in this industry. . 🔹Like everything in the fitness industry, it WILL vary from person to person. Some people feel like shit when they eat over 30g of sugar a day, others feel fine at 80g of sugar. Some people need lower fiber, fat, carbs and some need higher, the list is endless. . 🔹Moral of the post: PAY ATTENTION to your body and what it tells you. Your body will send you signs when it is unhappy. It is your responsibility as an athlete, client, health guru, wizard, etc to understand these signs when your body is sending them. Moderation will always be your key to success when it comes to diet. Take a picture, get likes. Post something for sale, make money. Order something, here in 2 days. , We want everything NOW. Well guess what kids... not here. Not in this sport. Not in this lifestyle. The truth: eating like a bird to "Stay lean and keep your abs" doesn't Fucking work. You don't "make progress a little slower so you can stay lean", you just simply don't make progress. How many girls look the exact same year after year, "lean bulk" after "lean bulk"? All of em. . PSA: Glute kick backs, bodyweight air squats and bands DONT. FUCKING. GROW. YOUR. GLUTES. . You need to push weight, prioritize your compound lifts; and be pushing food. . You can ride the "genetics" tricycle for as long as you want and get nowhere, or you can get out of your comfort zone and start growing with the right approach. . throwbackthursday and back on our 10 question spree. Day 7/10: . Question; Do you constantly overload yourself by trying to get everything on your plate done at once? Or are you able to have a "one step at a time" mindset? . My answer: I use to ALWAYS take on everything at once. "I'll knock it all out as fast as I can and then be done", but my work output suffered. Significantly. Over time I've learned to put things aside and focus on what's in front of me to my BEST quality of work. You know what happened? My work output actually improved, my stress lowered, I finally allowed myself to take mental breaks when they were needed and my work output multiplied tenfold from doing so. . Learn to take life and it's obstacles/challenges one at a time. Focus on what is right in front of you, right now. THAN move on to the next ... if you lay one brick at a time as perfectly as you can, eventually you'll have a perfect house.

Day 6/10: . The Balanced Life. . This was a series on YouTube I started last year... and my YouTube fire has died out since. I went from posting 2x a week for almost 2 years.. to not posting a video in 5+ months. . I wanted to promote balance, I wanted to promote prioritizing your life and not stressing over food, social outings, etc. . YouTube is a lot more time consuming than people think it is... constantly filming, editing and uploading .. over and over. The truth is, I wasn't finding much "balance" because I was stressing about trying to pump out videos. . I miss it, but at the same time I don't. My priorities have shifted .. and I allowed them to. . So day 6/10 question is this; . Are you holding onto a responsibility/hobby/job you use to be passionate but no longer are? Do you feel like you have to stick with it?... because you do not. Your life and your priorities will always shift. Thank you all for being so awesome. . Day 5/10 . Question: Do you give yourself the proper time needed to mentally deload/recharge or do you constantly grind yourself into the ground to be successful? . My answer: I use to think "no days off" was the way to be successful... and while that may be true, I definitely misinterpreted. Days off are CRUCIAL for overall work output. This is true for the gym, for your job, relationships etc. if you get too obsessive and constantly grind yourself into the ground... you WILL burn out and your output will suffer. If you want to excel at what you do, than you need to put your mental health high on the priority list. Read a book, meditate, find another hobby, etc... anything that you enjoy to give yourself some recharge time from other facets of your life.

2018: Day 1 . It's time for the New Year Resolutioners to take on and flood our gyms. . Yes, this is quite annoying when every machine is taken... but, it's always awesome to see so many people starting the process of improving themselves. . With that being said, I noticed a fairly overweight man at my gym before (new guy), I walked up, introduced myself, made a small pun about "New Year new me"(lol dad jokes) , and we started talking. . He told me he was nervous about coming because he didn't want to get made fun of, and said how me coming up to him made him feel significantly more comfortable. . My point here: instead of us just glaring at the new comers "taking our equipment", let's just reach out and make them feel welcomed... we all started somewhere, what makes them any less important? . Here's to hoping we get a good amount of people to stick to their fitness and other goals this year!

First time I've had a (decent) pump in a month 😭🙏🏻 Real talk though: . I love being a coach, it's been the most rewarding thing I've ever done in my life. . Unfortunately, what I've noticed the longer I'm in this industry, is how much "demonizing" other coaches/clients is dominant. . Clients training with coach A, automatically demonized Coach B, just because it's not "their" coach. . This whole community started out by wanting to HELP PEOPLE, and it has turned into this huge dick measuring contest. . Even coaches being in this "it's not me, so that coach must be terrible" mindset. The thing is, there are an IMMENSE amount of amazing coaches out there; all with different styles, approaches, clientele , etc. . There's no single "best way" to do anything in this industry. I know so many awesome coaches that I am lucky enough to call my friends and we all have completely different approaches. . So instead of us all being dickeheads , I'm making today "coach appreciation" day lol . One thing I am constantly stressing to myself, my clients, and all of you; is that everybody starts somewhere. That starting point is different for everybody. . You have to STOP comparing your progress to somebody else's end result. This sport/lifestyle takes time. It is a pure game of patience and consistency. Sure genetics plays a huge role, but that also varies from person to person. . "People often over estimate what they can accomplish in 2.5 weeks; and under estimate what they can accomplish in 2.5 years. " . You guess it. These are 2.5 years apart. I weigh more on the right. Body composition is completely different. Etc, etc. . It. Just. Takes. Time.

I've put my body through the absolute fuckin ringer this year. Thinking I was invincible. . Well, It finally caught up to me a few months ago while I was squatting. The left side of my lower back has bothered me ever since. . Me, being the overly stubborn man I am when it comes to my own body, decided I could push through the pain.. Boy was I wrong. . Fast forward to about a month ago and I was not even able to stand up off the couch. Couldn't lift anything, couldn't bend over, etc. . I finally had to be humbled and take my own advice. I took 9 full days off of lifting all together. Last week, I eased back in on very light machine work, and this week I was back to about 70% output with minimal back pain. . LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. You need to be objective and know when there's a time to push forward, and a time to back off. A lesson most of us have to learn the hard way. . Slowly but surely getting myself back up to 100%😭.. and now I'm just small
