So excited! This is something I’ve always wanted to do. Although Gunner could pass as “purebred”, he definitely doesn’t look “well bred”. So I’ve always thought there might be something else in him. If not, this won’t be a total loss of $200, it will also tell me if he has any of the 160+ genetic diseases they test for.

Part 3 of rant No, you should never yell at or punish a puppy but that DOES NOT mean you let it do whatever it wants. There are many ways to affectively let them know what you want. I’m not seeing responsible or knowledgeable dog ownership in these Malinois/Dutchie owners. I almost feel bad for the dogs sometimes, but I know they don’t know any better so they can’t do any better. YOU CAN HAVE A FRIENDLY, WELL-MANNERED MAL OR DUTCHIE AND IT WILL STILL HAVE DRIVE. I feel like the owners of these dogs feel like if their dog isn’t crazy enough he’s not really a true Malinois or Dutchie. That’s also bullshit! Why can’t you have a well behaved dog?! I am very well aware these dogs are very hard to raise and socialize correctly but if you can’t do it correctly then why did you get this breed? Why would you do that to them? And overall, this applies to all dog owners. People just need to stop getting dogs when they have no idea what they are doing or getting into. And the sad thing is that most of these people DO know what they are getting into and have been working with these dogs for a long time and STILL have no idea how to properly raise their dogs. It makes me so mad! Do it right or don’t do it at all! But who the dogs parents are does play a very big role in how they will turn out, there are things you just can’t train or raise out of a dog no matter how hard you try, but you CAN affect their final personality/attitude a lot of you do it right. You can raise a puppy from aggressive parents to be social but just know that it will always have aggressive tendencies if somebody or something bothers it. If anyone reading this feels like I’m specifically calling you out, I might be, but all of this is a mixture of everything wrong I’ve seen so if their is something about you in here, I probably saw someone else doing it also. This was meant to be offensive and wake people up, I was not trying to be nice.

Part 2 of rant You should never let your dog do that to itself. I’ve seen a purebred Belgian Malinois being used as a service dog and he was expected to be calm and friendly to everyone and everything and guess what?! HE WAS! He was a perfect gentleman and so could every other Malinois and/or Dutchie! You don’t have to raise them in they way most people think they are or should be. They can be just as friendly and outgoing as a Labrador but the best thing is that they still have that incredible drive! They can literally learn anything! ITS ALL ABOUT HOW YOU RAISE THEM. The thing that is so great about these kinds of dogs is they can do pretty much any job and be very happy. Just because you have a Belgian Malinois or Dutch Shepherd doesn’t mean they have to be crazy, uncontrollable, and unpredictable. Those traits are not part of the breed! Those traits just show up when there is nothing better is expected of them. What makes the breed is a dog who is ready to go anytime, easy to work with, wants to please, does the best it can at whatever is asked. THAT is good dog. That is what you should strive to have. And if you choose not to do bite/protection work with your dog that’s perfectly fine and sometimes better for them! Not doing bite work doesn’t make your dog any less “cool” or “badass”. It’s not a breed requirement. Malinois and Dutchies that don’t do bite work can sometimes be calmer, friendlier, and happier because they don’t have to be on guard all the time which lets them settle down and not see everyone and everything as a threat. Of course you need to make up for the lack of mental stimulation with other things but hard work is what you signed up for when you got this breed right? It just blows my mind that people think it’s ok and normal for their “high drive” working/companion dog to do what a “pet” dog would never ever be allowed to do or would get sent to a trainer for. YOU CAN AND NEED TO DISCIPLINE YOUR PUPPY!! Puppyhood is when they need the most rules and direction. They need to know from the very beginning who calls the shots and what they can and can’t do. And especially what the word “no” or “stop” means. No, you should never yell at or

😤RANT TOWARDS MALINOIS/DUTCHIE OWNERS!🚨 Pt. 1 out of 3 Before you get offended, I want to make it very clear that I know this is NOT every “high drive” dog owner. I’ve seen some good ones who have very well behaved dogs. WELL TRAINED DOES NOT MEAN WELL BEHAVED!!! So here we go.... I’ve about had it with all these Belgian Malinois/Dutch Shepherd owners! They think that just because they own one of these dogs they can let it bark, bite, attack and do whatever the heck it wants because “that’s just how they are”. That’s bullshit. They take pride in having dogs who can’t settle down, they take pride in the fact that they have this psycho dog who can’t stop biting and attacking everything. They say “aw my dogs such an asshole” “aw my dogs barking uncontrollably at that thing, person, or sound, he’s such a beast, whatta dog! Look at that drive!” “Aw look it wants to bite that person/kid! Good dog!” That’s bullshit! There is a very specific time and place for that kind of behavior(bite/protection work or when you actually need to be protected) but it should NEVER show up in everyday life uncalled for. You can’t use the stereotypes that surround these dogs as an excuse for YOUR dogs horrible behavior! Everything these dogs do is out of insecurity, confusion, or they think that’s what you want them to do. I’ve seen people who can’t even clean THEIR OWN HOME because they can’t control their puppy and even adult dog who is viciously attacking their broom/vacuum. I understand that these traits can be desirable when doing bite/protection work but that doesn’t excuse that fact that you can’t tell your dog when to stop or even worse, you don’t want to?? What?! These dogs are soooo incredibly smart, they should be able to know the difference between play time, work time, and calm time. Yes, that should be and is possible with these dogs. Many owners allow their puppies to run around like crazy psychos and never teach them how to quiet their minds and learn to enjoy settling down. That is a huge disservice to them. I’ve seen these dogs struggling to breathe they are so out of breath but. They. Can’t. Stop. Must. Keep. Going... That is very unhealthy.
